the most beautiful sound.

Last night i was giving Melia a bath when we got back from our fun filled weekend with the in-laws. Melia loves baths and always has but recently we have moved from the kitchen sink to the actual bath tub and she loves it even more now that she can splash and stretch!
Well, last night she was having so much that she actually started giggling!!! just a few times- and she was kind enough to repeat it for dad after i banged on the floor to get his attention in the basement and he came running up to see what was wrong! she didnt giggle long enough to capture it on video but im tempted to give her another bath today to see if i will get a repeat performance!
im just soo happy! it is seriously the most beautiful sound i have ever heard!

on a side note- i just figured out that with the help of my nursing pillow i can do photoshop, email, blog and pretty much anything on my computer while im nursing Melia! now thats talent!!

Last night the girls from my Life Photo Studios threw melia and I a little baby shower- they are such wonderful girls. They have bought a crib for Melia which i am excited to finally get this week and i thought last night was just a small get together so they could all see melia, cam and i but they had all bought us presents too... i think we are very spoiled!
all the presents were so cute and wonderful but i just had to blog about one gift that we got.

Bunny Slippers!!! are they not the cutest thing you have ever seen! melia will be wearing these everyday until they dont fit anymore!!!

I found a new love....

His name is Dyson and he is wonderful, he cleans my house and is beautiful!! yup, im in love with my vacuum! I borrowed my moms dyson this summer when she was in california and i knew i wanted one. well, my vacuum was not cleaning very well- not at all actually- so i finally got my beautiful RED dyson!!

Okay, so i dont watch american idol or canadian idol either but when my mom-in-law was up visiting after melia was born she was watching canadian idol and this guy came on and sang this song- Linda and i rewound it a few times to watch it again because it gave us chills. I guess he went on to win the show. every so often i watch it again because its so good- better than the orignal singers version -i just wish it were longer. (the song starts around 39 seconds if you want to skip over the talking junk)

finally...

Okay, as I have said many times before I am no good at updating- which is funny because I get annoyed when other people dont update for a long time- like my sister and sister in laws.. I just want to know what is going on and they have the nerve not to post new blogs :) I guess I should start first before I complain!!
well, 5 days after Melia was born we went in for some studio photos and yesterday we went in again for some more- why not when I get all the free sessions I want eh! so I figure i will put some up now!

Melia is 7 weeks tomorrow! time sure flies by so quickly. i feel like she just arrived yet it also feels like we have been this happy little family forever! She is such a good baby. we have been following "baby wise" to help Melia get on a schedule and she is doing so well with sleeping and eating and everything! She is such a smiley baby, though yesterday she just wouldnt smile at the camera :( but thats okay we have a lifetime of shoving a camera in her face to capture her smiles!

Cam is loving being a daddy and is so good at it- he is just a natural, except for changing diapers, that was a learned skill! I think our little dog is feeling quite neglected though, he isnt allowed near her and when cam is holding melia rogan goes to the corner where his pillow is and pouts!

well, things are good and i am loving being a momma!!!

After 12 hours of labour and 40 minutes of pushing (with a little help from the vacuum since she had a lot of mecconium and we were both running a fever) she finally arrived and her daddy and I couldnt be happier!
Here she is guys- our little bundle of joy.





I promise to upload more as the days go by, we sure have taken a whole bunch- but really would you expect anything less? I will also try to figure out the slideshow and movie stuff and post a hilarious one of cam changing his first diaper and todays addition of a poopy one! its too funny!

whens that bABY due?

okay okay i know that at this stage of pregnancy every woman complains and just wants to have that baby already. well i am no different so i want to vent a little- read if you want- or dont i just need to scream thru my keyboard. according to my countdown i have 12 days to go. which means nothing i know. mom keeps telling me to think of my due date as aug 12 so i dont get too hopeful when july comes to end... well, then the doctor should have told me aug 12 in the beginning because i am having this baby on or before aug 2!! i will be determined like my sister and just make it happen- she does it all the time why cant i? (yes, you can all laugh at me if its aug 10th and im still preggo).
but i am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo uncomfortable. cant sleep, cant eat much or i get nauseated, cant sit for very long cant lie down for very long and cant stand for very long! life is just peachy!! and to make matters worse my mom and mom-in-law have both left me and told me under no circumstances am i to have this baby while they are gone- thanks ladies!! im not upset or anything i just think next time (if there is a next time) plan your vacations better dang it!!
im not the only anxious one, cam literally prayed last night for me to go into labour... today :) I amen-ed with full force to that one!!
so i am ready. more than ready to have this baby. people say babies are easier on the inside than the outside but i am ready to have that proven to me. at least on the outside i will be able to pass her off to dad and more than willing grandparents and all those people who always want to hold new babies- and especially those suckers who, like me 9 months ago, were cooing over a newborn wanting one for their very own!

Baby room - Stage 1

So we finally started painting this weekend... about time I guess since she is due in 20 days, though I have been told that really means nothing! Both my mom and mom-in-law have specifically told me I am "not allowed to have that baby until" the 23rd for mil and 30th for mom. I'll try, but I think if our little girl is anything like either of her parents she has a mind of her own and there will be no telling her what to do... or does that mean she will be taking after her auntie Jolanda?? :)
Well, here are the before and after of the painting. The room is not done because we still have to paint bubbly circles in different shades of pink on the walls too. but here it is in stage one. Im hoping to have stage 2 done by next weekend. Not so spectacular of photos but when its all ready I will have better ones.

So tonight I tried something new..... Cooking! okay so I know I'm nowhere near as talented at the whole chef thing as my dear sister, Jolanda, but I figured with a baby coming in the very near future I should up my game at bit in the kitchen department.
Jo had made these sandwiches for me when I went to visit her last summer in Texas and I have been dreaming of them ever since. Well, tonight I decided to face my kitchen phobia head on and make them... dang, they were soooo good!! I surprised myself and Cam- he thought that no meant meant they would suck! Happy Birthday to me...& Kaycee!

First off, thanks to all the wonderful people who sent me emails, facebook messages, e-cards and phone calls- they really made my day.
My dad and mom sent me this beautiful bouquet of flowers while at work- i love them. I almost didn't get them. they were supposed to be delivered in the morning but as I was walking out the door at 4:30 the guy finally showed up!! but hey are beautiful and smell wonderful! thanks mom and dad.
I also got one of these!! I've been wanting one for quite a while- I hate chopping onions and such by hand so now I can do it with the magical pampered chef chopper!

Cam got me a wonderful surprise gift as well. a maternity massage and hot stone pedicure from Riverside spa. I get to have the massage on the 14th but the pedicure couldn't get booked till later. but I'm super excited. Thanks sweetheart- I love you!!

Crazy Stupid Weather

Alrighty, so this morning Cam and I leave for work at 7 am like usual and its a slightly chilly day but nothing a little 5 minute heat up of the car cant handle... we drive our regular route and notice its getting a little bit flurry-ish around chestermere - which is about 20 minutes from our house and almost half way to Cam's work. After Chestermere it turns into God making snow cones or something because we moved about 6 blocks from 7:30- 10:30!! after that we thought "this is insane, we are turning around and going home" we still would be stting in traffic now, and if we had somehow managed to get cam to work by 11:30 or 12 I still have a 20 minute drive myself on a good day so who knows when i would have made it up to my work...not worth it!!!
Anyways, on the drive home we noticed a reverse pattern of weather and soon we saw people driving by on their way to calgary gawking at our car. When we got home we saw that its because we have a foot of snow on top of it and there is nothing on the ground....though it has just started a light snowing right now.
Crazy Calgary Weather!!!! I hate it, but at least i got a day off work :) theres a plus to everything eh!

Well, Im sad to say Gusty will be leaving our family for good tomorrow morning... She has served us well, and shared many a good memory with us from dating til now but alas all good things must come to an end- or get smashed by some idiot on the drive in to work but you know what i mean :)



So now we have a new baby and its not the one growing in my tummy, though ive put a picture of my growing belly below the picture of our new MAGNUM!!! we got a really good deal on this beautiful car and we love it!!
So goodbye gusty hello maggie?? we're not sure on a name for her yet but i like maggie....

Alive and Kicking!

Well this morning I was relaxing and reading the Babywise book I bought on Thursday- which is so good..jo I will definalty be following it so thanks! andways I was sitting there and started to feel a small twitching on the lower part of my tummy... i ignored it but then it came more frequently and i looked down and saw my tummy moving slightly!!! I was complaining just last night to Sherilyn that I hadnt felt her move at all yet- not even butterflies/fluttering the books all say you should feel. but then today on the 21 week mark I got to feel my little girl say Hello!!!
Just thought I would share in my delight!! :)

Drumroll please.............

Alrighty, Cam and I went and had another ultrasound today. I will be 19 weeks on saturday and the baby looks so cute - well as cute as a grey fuzzy picture can be!!!




Oh and in case you were wondering..... Its a girl!!!! we are very excited. I had a feeling from the beginning but Cam was hoping for a boy... so I have been gloating! yipeeeee!
